Fudge

I'm sure this recipe is very close (if not exact) to the recipe on the jar of marshmallow cream. However, Mother ALWAYS made fudge during the holidays and it was alwasys so creamy and smooth. This is definitely a recipe that reminds me of her and the holiday season. I continue to make it every year for "goodie" platters that I make for various people. It is also a favorite of my sister-in-law and niece (Cheryl and Holley).

Fudge:

2 sticks butter

4 1/2 cups sugar

1 tall can Carnation milk

Mix above ingredients in large pan and cook slowly until it starts to boil. Time for 7 minutes, after it starts boiling. Remove from heat and add:

3 packages (6 oz.) semisweet chocolate chips

1 jar marshmallow cream

1 tablespoon vanilla

1/8 teaspoon salt

1/2 pound chopped pecans (optional)

Mix until marshmallow cream melts. Pour into a buttered 9x13 pan. Let cool and set before cutting.
